Too often, homeowners reach out to us after they’ve already been through a doctor, a contractor, and another testing company, and nobody could give them a straight answer. High humidity, a musty smell that won’t go away, unexplained health issues with members of your family, or hidden water damage all have specific causes, and guesses rarely find them.
At Building Performance Solutions, our work is aimed at three things: finding out what’s actually happening in your home, giving you answers you can trust, and pointing you toward a real solution if one is needed. We get there by measuring what’s going on in your house before we ever draw a conclusion, and it’s what sets us apart from other local indoor air quality testing and home diagnostic companies.
1. We Measure & Test Before We Draw Any Conclusions
Finding the actual source of a mold, moisture, or air quality problem takes more than a quick look and a swab. Problems travel through a house. A musty smell in one room is often a sign of moisture coming from somewhere else entirely, even when there’s no visible mold anywhere near where you’re smelling it. The same goes for humidity, allergy symptoms, and rooms that just feel off.
During your Home Safety Assessment, we start with a full visual inspection, then decide which specific tests actually make sense based on what we’re seeing, including air quality, mold, humidity, or HVAC analysis. We also look at how air is moving through the house, since a home can seem fine on the surface and still have real problems if nobody looks at the whole picture.
Three things come out of working this way:
- Our conclusions come from measurements. We can point to exactly what we found in your home and walk you through how it led to what we’re telling you.
- We have no reason to sell you something you don’t need. Because we don’t perform the repair or remediation work ourselves, there’s no incentive to make a problem sound bigger than what we actually found.
- We look at the whole house. Your HVAC system, the building envelope, and moisture sources are all connected, so we don’t evaluate any of them in isolation.
That whole-house view is also possible because Anthony is a licensed AC contractor as well as a licensed mold assessor, so he can legally open up the air handler and get into the envelope himself instead of guessing at what’s behind them.
2. We Explain What We Find in Plain Language
As the homeowner, you shouldn’t need a background in building science to understand what we’ve found in your house. After your assessment, we walk you through it in language that makes sense, and give you a clear picture of what’s going on and what, if anything, needs to happen next.
We’ll also meet you wherever you’re starting from. Some homeowners want comprehensive testing right out of the gate. Others want to start with a baseline assessment and only go further if we find something that warrants it. Either way gets you a real answer, and we’ll help you figure out which path makes sense for you.
3. We Can Re-Test the Home When the Work Is Done
Most companies close the file once the initial report goes out. We don’t stop there. If remediation happens, whether it’s a company we referred or one you chose on your own, we can come back and repeat the same measurements we started with, so you have real before-and-after numbers instead of just someone’s word that it’s handled.
For clients dealing with CIRS or ongoing health sensitivities, this often turns into an ongoing relationship. A new trigger, a life event, or simply enough time passing can call for another round of testing months or years down the line, and we’re still here for that conversation when it comes up.
Ready to Find Out What’s Actually Going On In Your Home?
The right answer depends on what’s actually happening in your house. As an independent, family-owned company based in Sarasota, we’ve built our reputation across Southwest Florida by working this way on every home we take on, whatever the problem turns out to be.
If you’re dealing with a health, air quality, or moisture problem and you want a real answer about what’s causing it, we’re ready to help.
